should go beyond the constraints of a place to reveal its unexpected facets and unlock the potential of each project.

FOR.utile approaches each new project through different perspectives.

this interdisciplinary approach enriches the design process and allows the transformation of a place to be understood in all its complexity.

by challenging and reinterpreting established codes, FOR.utile seeks to express the spirit of the place while giving it a new identity, in tune with its time.

c a r o l e  c h u f f a r t

as an architect graduated from TU Berlin, she has developed a practice shaped from the outset by the connections between
architecture, design and artistic disciplines.

belgian-swiss, with a strong european background, she studied and worked in Zurich, Berlin, Lausanne and Brussels, before moving to Paris in 2003.

these experiences have shaped an approach open to different project cultures and multiple ways of designing and building.

in collaboration with MCMdesign, she successfully developed several international projects, including Pacha Marrakech and hotel projects in Portugal.

after twelve years at the head of the architecture practice CcommeC alongside carole vermont, carole chuffart founded FOR.utile in 2019.

for more than 20 years, she has successfully delivered over 80 architectural projects: restaurants, stores, offices, houses and private apartments.

through these experiences, her perspective on projects has broadened: designing also means understanding the client’s intentions, the constraints and the different stakeholders involved in bringing a project to life.

FOR.utile also draws on a network of artists, creatives and specialists, whose perspectives and expertise enrich each project.

a project can be approached from different positions.

FOR.utile also works alongside clients, providing consultancy and project management, particularly within the retail and luxury sectors.

TUMI store

since 2024, carole chuffart has been working with TUMI as Director of Store Planning Europe, supporting its store projects across Europe, from development through to completion.

from Paris to Munich, Zurich, Madrid, Vienna and Amsterdam, this international experience spans a variety of environments:
city-centre stores, flagships, airports and outlets.

her role combines technical, operational and financial analysis, budget and schedule management, coordination and collaboration with the various project stakeholders — internal teams, architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, landlords and operators.

each location requires a specific understanding of the project: the technical and security constraints of airport environments,
the architectural and commercial requirements of city-centre stores and flagships, or the procedures and standards specific to European outlets.

the objective remains the same: to preserve the brand concept and expected level of quality while managing constraints, costs and deadlines.

the architect’s experience becomes here a tool for dialogue, anticipation and decision-making, serving those who drive the project.

the transmission of knowledge extends this approach

carole chuffart teaches and contributes to courses, workshops and conferences exploring architecture,
the transformation of places and the connections between disciplines.

 HSRM student projets

selection:
in 2019, she was invited to Hochschule RheinMain (HSRM) in Wiesbaden to take part in the Die Salons der Republik workshop
organised by Prof. holger kleine, where she gave the lecture trans.ver – der stimmende Raum.

in 2021/22, she was invited back to the same university as a visiting lecturer, leading two design studios.

she invited second- and third-year Bachelor students to explore, among other subjects, the transformation of La Défense_92,
through the introduction of a culinary and cultural pavilion.

in Berlin, carole chuffart also spent two years as a student assistant at the architecture chair of matthias sauerbruch (sauerbruch hutton).
